I'm looking for names meaning "cat" (or similar meanings, for example "cat-like" etc.). Unfortunately google doesn't help much, as everything I find there are suggestions for "cat names" :-(
It doesn't matter of which origin the names are and although I mainly need female ones, male ones would also be okay.
If anyone can help me, thanks a lot!|||Pisica . It means cat in romanian;)|||Felix suggests feline and is also associated with Felix the cat.

What are your thoughts on the following two names?
Boy -%26gt; Noah
Girl -%26gt; Amity
I do love Noah, but I get the beardy-man image in my head. I'm not fussed that Amity happens to be the beginning of Amityville, as it is a virtue name meaning "friendship". I don't tend to like virtue names, but there's just something about this one.
I just don't know. Honest opinions wanted :) Thank you.|||Oh, where to begin with Noah? I'll admit, it is a very sweet-sounding, strong, handsome name. But, my Lord, it has absolutely sky-rocketed in popularity here in the U.S. I feel like there's a baby being named Noah left and right [both boys and *gags* girls], and it's been that way the for the past five years or so. Part of me really does like it, because it's the name of my best friend's boyfriend, and he's a great guy [the only Noah I know my age, by the way.] But, I could never use it because of how common and predictable it's become. However, if popularity isn't an issue where you live, then I see nothing wrong with it.
Amity... hm, I don't think I've ever heard this one. To be honest, I probably wouldn't have even put two-and-two together about Amityville Horror, so I don't think I'd let that get in the way of your preference. I think I might like it more if you hadn't have told me that it's a virtue name, which now makes it a total turn off for me [like Destiny %26amp; Charity... ick.] I guess this one might be more of a subtle one, though, and maybe I could see it more as a name than a noun eventually [like Grace %26amp; Joy.] Besides the fact that it's a virtue name, I can see the appeal. It has a unique, likable feel to it and I think it would probably grow on me the more and more I heard it / thought about it.
:D|||%26gt;%26gt; Noah {9/10}
I adore the name Noah. I'm a complete atheist, so I rarely think of the bible when I hear it. It's short and sweet, but it still sounds strong and masculine. Plus, it's the kind of name that ages really well and goes with pretty much every middle name. It's only bad point is it's popularity.
%26gt;%26gt; Amity {9/10}
Again, I adore this name. I actually sort of like the Amityville connection; I'm fascinated by horror movies. And I also like that it has such a nice meaning alongside this. It's one of the very few word names I actually like, and the only virtue name I like (other than Grace). Very sweet and feminine, but still spunky and classy.|||Noah - it's my 3rd favorite biblical name for a boy. I love it! I love so many different combos with it. I do think of Noah's Arc but it would never stop me from loving it!
Amity - it's different but i've never been too keen on it. I think i prefer it as a middle name or a guilty pleasure one.
Lisa Michelle x x lol x x|||I, too, love Noah. The only problem is, I know a bratty kid named Noah. So, every time I think of that name, I think of him. Amity is pretty, don't get me wrong, but I do think of "The Amityville Horror" every time I hear it. I love the meaning as a virtue, though!

Do you care about the meaning of the names you like? Like if it's masculine for a girl?
Like do you care if your daughters name is masculine like Madison- son of Matthew or Addison- son of Adam. Does this really affect ur decision or do u even care?
My take- I don't care. If it was a common name for either gender, I'd use a super feminine name or a very masculine name to balance it out. I prefer Addison n Madison for girls.|||You know that saying that sticks and stones may break your bones but words will never hurt you? Well, it's a big fat lie. Words hurt forever while physical wounds heal.
I believe words and names have power. I would never use the names Claudia, Cecilia, or Blaise because of their meanings. It's the same thing as never saying your grandmother was sick when she's not. "When you see someone who is not disabled park in a handicapped space, you know that God can fix it where they can park there legal-like," according to a friend of mine.
Addison and Madison are unisex names. Once upon a time people used terminology such as "mankind". "Mankind" did not mean men alone, it meant humanity. The suffix -son used to mean descendant of, not necessarily a boy child of. Although to be fair, most probably weren't that interested in the female children.
I think that if you like it, if your significant other likes it, and you have thought out whatever kind of issues that the name may raise, that if you still want to use it, then it's no one else's business, including mine.
By the same token, if a mother wants to name her son Madison or Addison, we cannot take offense.
One mother on here once claimed to have named her new son Crimson James. Now to me, that's odd.|||It depends if the name sounds like it suits that gender and whether or not there are a lot of kids of the opposite sex with that name too. My sister's middle name is Ashleigh which was also popular for boys when she was born, and my mum chose not to use it as a first name because she didn't want people asking if she was a boy or girl. Nowadays it is more popular for girls, so I would definitely use Ashley/Ashleigh because I think it sounds feminine and suits a girl more than a guy (I think Ashton is better for a boy). I wouldn't use a name that sounded masculine though like Carson or Spencer though, no matter how popular they become for girls I still don't see anything girly about those names at all.|||I honestly could care less as long as the name is pretty. :)facial body

Middle names meaning youngest/4th born/little brother?
My husband and I have 3 sons already. We are 19 weeks along with our 4th child and will be finding out in a couple weeks what the baby's sex is. If we have another boy, we would like him to have a middle name meaning 4th son, little brother, youngest, baby, etc, something like that. This will be the last child we have so we want his middle name to mean something about him being the youngest. (If we have a boy anyways.) Any suggestions are appreciated, and the possible first names are Raiden, Trajen, or Londen so the middle name would have to go with any or all of those first names. Thanks so much!!|||The name Anane is African and means "fourth son". I guess it would be pronounced Ah-nay-ne

Character names meaning dark, protector, and betrayer?
I'm writing a book and I'm absoluetly horrible at picking character names. Some help would be great :)
I really need male names. Three different ones. I need one that means dark, another meaning protector and lastly something along the lines of betrayal. (And if you can, a last name would be nice as well)
Also, I don't want these names to be completely obvious on what their meaning is. This book takes place in modern times, but I wouldn't care if the names a little old fashioned either.
Names I've already used:
Daniel
Darren
Christopher
Anthony
Todd
Keith
Nathan
Sam
Scott
Gabriel
Michael
Thanks :)|||When a child is born, a mother doesn't name the baby after it's personality. In fact, how could she know that her son would be "dark."
Naming characters after their personality is cliche and unrealistic. I also hate that, and it doesn't matter. Pick a damn name.
But, Liam means protector. :(|||DARK
