What is the mythological meaning & name of Saturn's symbol?

The Seal of Saturn is a magical symbol representing the Intelligence of the planet Saturn.

The magical tradition of using seals or signatures for spiritual energies or entities is quite old (similar seals can be found on two thousand year old Coptic magical papyri). This particular example probably dates to medieval times, and is drawn from the "magic square" of Saturn, an ancient table of numbers believed to contain the magical essence of Saturn. The magick square of Saturn is a table of the numbers one through nine, arranged in such a way that all rows add to 15. The seal is created by tracing the numbers in the square in order.

In the kabbalisticly based traditions of ritual magic , the planets are the manifestation in the physical world of higher cosmic forces. These forces are represented by the numbers that embody their qualities. The seals and symbols are used to invoke those qualities (Saturn in ritual magic represents the forces of containment, time, death, and stagnation) in ritual.|||The symbol for Saturn represents the sickle of the god Saturn in Roman mythology.|||Saturn is the Roman name for KRONOS,Zeus's father.

Lettre K was a variation of lettre X in ancient Greece. If we put X in place of K, we have XRONOS (CHRONOS), meaning Time.

XPONOS (CHRONOS) in greek means time passing, year.

Time is calculated by a planet's change in space. This is done in a spherical way, during orbit around the Sun ,around neighbour solar systems and nebuluses and our galaxy in relation to other -nearby- galaxies.

Rings around Saturn is power, a way to help the landing on plan et. I was thrilled to read other friends here explanations on rings!

Somany things we ignore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phew. That was a lot! There were many that had five or six letters, so if you're not stressed about the 7-letter thing, you have many more options. I got all of these from http://www.babynames.com/indian-baby-nam鈥?/a> by the way, so I apologize if the name or the meaning are a bit (or a lot) off. If you live in America or an English-speaking country, my suggestions are Anamika ("Ana"), Chandra, Krishna, Trishna ("Trish"), Somatra, Jasleen, Savarna, Sohalia (on second though maybe not because it could be easily confused with Somalia) or my favorites, Kalinda and Kirtana, because they are easier to pronounce in English. In fact, the computer recognizes Chandra, Krishna and Kalinda, so they must be commonly understood.

Whch one of these names sounds like the most vicious dog?

I just got an all black German Shepherd and not that I want him to be mean, I'm just looking for a mean name. I'm stuck between:

Gauge, Jagger, Delano (Meaning "of the night"), Fate and Cuda (As in Barracuda)|||None of the names listed strike me as particularly menacing, but as ever the person who has to be happy with the name is the owner who will use it to train %26amp; use it in everyday life.

I prefer Caius, Nero or Damon.|||I like Jagger. German Shepherds can be real sweethearts when they're raised right but they do have intimidating reputations. I've never seen an all black one but I bet he is scary looking! Please raise your dog to be kind and gentle and let his appearance be your security. I'd suggest you take him for professional "personal protection training" (not guard dog or attack training) so he'll know when to be friendly and when to take action. We had a GS that was as gentle as a lamb, but when people pulled into our driveway they'd ask if it was safe to get out of the car!|||I like gauge... Not sure if by Jagger you meant J盲ger, the German liquor, but that would be an awesome name too :) I've always wanted a great Dane named J盲ger!

Ps, maybe you should rethink Delano. I live near a city called Delano and it's not a nice place. It's a dirty little town near Bakersfield, Ca. I really like Cuda, too.

My favorites are Guage and Delano.|||I like Delano. I don't know if it sounds mean but it's definitely a cool name. I like the meaning of it and since your dog is a black German shepherd, it goes with his coloring. Go with Delano, it's cool.|||Cuda sounds the most vicious. Definitely puts the image of a dog who will bite my head off at the command of his owner in my mind. Sounds like the name of a wild animal. Plus shorter syllable names are best for dogs|||None of those strike the fear of *dog* in me.

If you want a bada$$ name for a black German Shepherd I like Hellion. It is different. Unique. "conqueror of the people; 1 century A.D.; Ac 6:5 - Nicholas and six others from Greece were chosen to meet the daily food needs of the Greek widows who had been neglected (perhaps in favor of the Jewish widows), due to the growth of the early church in Jerusalem. THese seven were also trusted with handling the cross-cultural issues involved in this ministry. Nicolaus was a "proselyte of Antioch," meaning he had previously converted from a pagan background to Jusiasm before becoming a Christian. He is not likely responsible for or related to the Nicolaitans, whose heretical doctrine was condemned at Ephesus and pergamum (Rev 2:6,15). For further study, see Ac 6:1-6."

Does the meaning of a name change your opinion of it?

For instance, one of my favourite boy names means 'Brave Advice' and 'God Has Given', which is fine.

However, one of the girl names means 'Torture' and 'Stone of the Flank' which isn't so good.

Would you be upset if you found out you had been named something like Cameron, which means 'Crooked Nose' or is it irrelevant?|||I used to think Delores sounded okay, as I like names that are a bit old-fashioned. But when I looked up the meaning, it was "Sorrow". So I wouldn't ever even consider using that name now.

~ {A} ~|||Nope it doesn't change my opinion of it, as meanings are irrelevant to me, they are interesting to know but i don't really care if the name has a weird meaning though, and plus a lot of my favorite names, especially the boy ones have something to do with God and i'm atheist so yeah lol.

To me the sound and look of a name are much more important than the meaning as most people don't even know the meanigs of names.|||Im having my first any minute (week and a half over due!) and we had a lot of trouble agreeing on names. Think we have one for if it's a boy and one for if its a girl now, but the meaning did effect our choices, some of the names we liked had religious meanings that really turned us off, and the boys name we have settled on has a really cool meaning that I think influenced us. One off the names I liked meant 'vain', it upset me because I really liked it! Yeah I found out about the Cameron crooked nose as well, and the name i like more Campbell is crooked mouth, how disappointing! I don't think it matters though if you really fall in love with a name, how often will it's meaning come up in your child's life?|||Well, it depends. My name is Maria, which means sea of bitterness sorrow. And my brother, Matt, is gift of god. My parents told me that no matter what the name means, you can be who you want to be, and it doesn't matter on the meaning. Don't pay attention to it. Love yourself for who you are, not for what your name means.|||Yes and No... I like the name Cameron a lot and to find out that means crooked Nose and shrimp in spanish is so funny and now I would not name my son cameron because I will think of that. I found out my name means Dear child... sweet but eh so I guess I am going with Yes it makes a difference.|||It should be irrelevant. If you love the name, it shouldn't matter what the "meaning" of it is. Everyone calls you by your name, but no one ever defines you/ calls you by what it means.|||well my sons name is Bryar which means a thorny bush, so dont look to much into meanings, if you love the name you love it and i LOVE name Bryar. :)|||I think that's a silly meaning for a name, honestly. I like some names, but not the meaning aka Claudia according to a source means "lame."|||There's a different meaning in every origin: Light, Noble, Beautiful, Rock? I guess it doesn't really change my opinion.|||No, I wouldn't because no one really cares about the meaning, they care about the name itself

Does hello have a litteral meaning from another language?

I know that English names have meanings from other languages even though i don't know which languages. BUT, the words hello have been derived from do have different meanings, which makes it more interesting.

    1. Old High German comes from halon, or holon, which is to fetch, used especially when hailing a fisherman.

    2. French: ho la, litterally means whoa there

I hope this answers your question.

As for your name: Emily is a derivative of Emil. Latin meaning would be "flatterer".

DUTCH PEOPLE,What's the meaning of the name "van" in most of the Dutch people's names?

Most Dutch people have the name "van" or "van der" or "van den" or "von" in their names. What's the meaning of all these names? Do these names have history or something?|||On 18 August 1811 when Napoleon Boneparte - whose French army were occupying the Netherlands - signed a decree establishing a registry of births, deaths and marriages. Families, who until that time had got on just fine without a surname, were suddenly obliged to pick a surname.

Genealogist Rick van der Wielen says that traditionally the Dutch used a patronymic system in which the father's first name became the first son's last name, and the other kids got the left over names from the grandfather, great grandfather and so on. Gradually in the 1600, people began to turn the patronymic name into modern surnames - Jan Hendricksen (Jan the son of Hendrick) gave his son the surname Hendricksen instead of Jansen. A suffix was often added to indicate "son of" or "daughter of". (Ex. Jan, son of Hendrick would be written Jan Hendricks, Jan Hendrickse or Jan Hendricksen.).

Women took a feminine form such as "s", "se", "sd", "sdr", and even "sen" which implied the full suffix of "sdochter", meaning "daughter of". (Ex. Jannetje Dirksdr would be Jane, daughter of Dirk.

'But the Dutch, being independently minded, couldn't agree on a single system. For instance one of the sons might use the name Hendricksen, while another might call himself Jansen, with another sibling basing his name on his town of origin and another on his occupation, Brouwer (Brewer),' says van der Wielen.

Incidentally Van der Wielen's own name refers to a pool of water along the coast that remains after the tide goes out and not the Dutch word for wheel.

    The Dutch Top Ten

Genealogist Miriam Klaassen says that a combination of unflattering nicknames, patronymic-based names, association with place of origin and references to occupation have become the most popular surnames.

The top 10 surnames include: De Jong (the young), Jansen or Janssen (son of Jan), Bakker (baker), Visser (fisher), Smit (smith) and Meijer/Meyer (land agent).

Van Dijk is another all time favourite but boringly enough it refers to the Dutch preoccupation with keeping sea water out of their clogs rather than a reference to the mother's sexual preference.

My personal favourite is Van den/der Berg (from/of the mountain). Now that has got to be a joke.

We can have a giggle about the Dutch first name Pik which seems to relate to the Dutch word for the male organ but we should not lose the run of ourselves. Kok for instance means cook.

In the movie 'meet the parents', Ben Stiller plays a character named Gay Fokker and we are all supposed to laugh. But Fokker (breeder) is a perfectly legitimate surname in the Netherlands. And while we are on the subject, my heart goes out to the Dutch man who proudly announced 'I fok horses' when asked about his occupation during an interview on British television some years back.|||Van=from ...location of where the family originated|||That would drive me nuts! I don't even like reading that word that many times.|||Van = From

It can be from the area where the family originated, but it can also be from what family they belong to. For example, the name "Van den Hoogte" means "from the high places/from the hills" (hoogte = high place).

"Von" is German, also means "from". "Vonder" or "Von der" would also mean "from the". (I think. I only speak Dutch, so I'm assuming that one.)|||In Dutch van stands for From, just like in German von stands for From too.|||van=from

    --

Well ... be careful, because -I don't speak Japanese-.

But ... two actual female Japanese names are:

久子 Hisako - means something like "child of a long time -%26gt; eternity"

    and

永子 Eiko - means something like "eternal child"/"child of eternity"

I searched on the Japanese Wikipedia and found pages about people with those names, in order to verify their existence. ^_^

子 "ko" is a common suffix for female names meaning "child" (which is why I tried those names). So uh, I at least know that these names sound fairly ordinary in Japanese; not very special. ^_^; I don't know how pretty they are to the average Japanese person, though.

  • What are some names meaning freedom? 10 points?

I'm writing a utopian to dystopian novel. The main character is going to have a name meaning freedom, breakthrough, independent, unique, untamable, anything like that. she is not the average person and is one of the people who help break free. she is a free spirit, please give me any names (MALE AND FEMALE) meaning these things, thanks. I think it is going to be based in the USA which is a melting pot so it doesn't really matter about the race, although I'm thinking common american names, maybe somehting irish, I'm not crazy about foreign names.|||I don't know If this is what you are looking for, but how about Liberty? You could always shorten it to Libby.|||Saoirse is the Irish for freedom and it's also a girls name

    Names meaning sharp/dull/clear?

I'm writing a story and struggling to find a suitable name for a male character. A key point of the story is this character's eyes resembling glass, so I want a name that has either a bright, clear, colorless sort of meaning or one with broken glass qualities (sharp, fragile, etc), or at least just eyes/sight in general.

If it helps, here's a bit of the story I'd like it to match: "Glass that reveals and reflects. Glass that glistens and shatters. Glass that captivates and traps."

I've looked so hard but can't seem to find what I'm looking for anywhere online... Suggestions?

(I'd prefer names that aren't terribly common but not ridiculously obscure, and nothing too foreign.)|||I found one that means ‘sharp eyes’ but I think it’s a bit over the top; it’s an African name: Masomakali

    Saxon means ‘sharp blade’.

Nevertheless, you probably have a better feel for the name you want and the adjectives that might describe that name, so, the following two websites will allow you to type in a meaning and return a name. My only warning is to keep the meaning to one word to get better results.

Why do some girls have guys names and vice versa?

There are epicene names, better known as gender-neutral names meaning specific names can be given to either a boy or a girl although there are some gender-neutral names more common for girls and some more common for boys. Some of these names I think are weird for the other gender If it's most commonly used with a different gender. "Dylan" is a unisex name more common for boys, and for some people it's a "weird" name for a girl.

Have there been any girls who go by the name "Matt"?|||a very interesting question. Francis is a common one like that. I have yet to meet a female Matt, though I did meet a female Michael.|||its called unisex meaning made for boys and girls like the name joel, cole, franky and many more. its completely normal.|||haha one time in HS a guy named Kelly was going out with a girl named Jerry. I found it funny|||Why not? Most the "epicene" names started out with a strong gender bias. Some parents either wanted the other gender, or just got attached to a name and used it regardless. I think parents should use care and sympathy when naming their kids. But if a person is fine with it, who cares what gender of the other 80% of people with their name are? And it depends on where you are from. some of the traditional "gender neutral" names I think sound like male-only or female-only. And some names which are tagged with a strong gender bias, I think should be more neutral.|||i dont know but i like Lain and Ryan for a girl...|||Dylan is very common here in boys... my name is Dylan. = P

I still love my name, though. I've never met a girl with my name, though, it might be cool.|||im sure there has been a female matt.. its normal.

How to interperet the meaning of chemical names?

    for example chromate

    its symbol is CrO42鈭?br>
with the four coming to the bottom right of the O

and the -2 coming to the top right or the 4

so does tha mean that there are six oxygens and four are neutral and 2 are negative?

need an explanation. thanks|||This comes down to the very basics of chemistry. It means that there are four oxygen atoms, and that the whole ion has a net charge of -2. Specifically, each of two oxygens of the ion has an extra lone pair of electrons which, in a neutral situation, would be shared with another atom. If the compound was neutral there would be no charge on it. However, in this specific case, to be neutral you would need to add two positve charges (to balance out the 2 negative charges). An example would be to use two sodium cations (2Na+) and you would then get the neutral salt Na2CrO4. Notice now that it is neutral, there is no accompanying superscripted number.

So basically, everytime you see a superscripted number after the formula, you know that it is an ion; a CATION has a positive charge and an ANION has a negative charge. Anytime you see a subscripted number, this is an indication of the number of atoms. As an example consider sulfuric acid (H2SO4), we can see that there are 2 hydrogens, 1 sulfur, and 4 oxygens.

Hope this helps.|||The 2- is a superscript, meaning the charge of the chromate ion is negative 2. There are one chromium atom and 4 oxygen atoms. The name is "chromate," and you would probably see this ion bonded to another atom or polyatomic ion.|||The four means there are four oxygen atoms in the molecule, and that overall the molecule has a negative charge of two. You should google chemistry nomenclature and do a quick read, it'll help a lot :o)|||A subscript number indicates how many of the atom are present, unless the number of atoms is 1, in which case there is no number shown. The superscript indicates the charge of the ion. If there is no number in superscript, there is no charge and the object is a molecule, not an ion. So in this case, there are four oxygen atoms and one chromium atom. The charge of the ion is -2. (The polarity of the charge is given after the number. I don't know why.)
