What is the meaning of names "Vaishalini" & "Manasa"?

The meaning of the name Manasa is Intelligence

The origin of the name Manasa is Indian (Sanskrit)

As for Vaishalini I have only found an Indian name pretty similar:

Vaishali, a Hindu female name which is the name of an ancient city.|||REGARDING VAISHALINI

Vishal is a very common first name found in India. It is also a common adjective found in north Indian languages.

The word has its root in the parent language Sanskrit in Indian languages. It means the great expense, wide, broad and spacious. But dose not to refer to size. The meaning comes closer to grand or great. There is no exact translation of Vishal in English. A few interpretations are immense, Unstoppable One, One Who Dreams Impossible Dreams, or One Who Reaches for the Sky and is Creative Beyond All Dreams.

1. The female name Vaishalini comes from Vaishali an ancient state the Himaliyan Gangetic region of present Bihar in India.

Vaishali derives its name from King Vishal of the Mahabharata stage age.

Even before the appearance of Budhism %26amp; Jainism Vaishali was the capital of the Republican Licchivi State.

Very little is known about the early history of Vaishali. Vishnoo Puran records 34 kings of Vaishali, the first being Nabhaga, who is believed to have abdicted his throne over a matter of human rights and believed to have declared: "I am now a free tiller of the soil, king over my acre."

The last among the 34 was Sumati, who is considered a contemporary of King Dusrath, father of the Lord Rama.

So many references of Vaishali can be seen in literatures of Budhism %26amp; Jainism. According to the information in these texts, Vaishali was established as a republic in 6 centuary BC, prior to the birth of Budha(563 BC), and was the world's first republic.

In Vaishali, Lord Mahavir was born, Budha delivered his last sermon at Vaishali here.

Vaishali is also renowned as the land of AMBAPALI ( Amrapali), the great Indian courtesan (Prostitute).

One of Buddha's favourite resort, Vaishali, is said to be named after King Vishal, a ruler during the times of Ramayana. There exists a large, but a ruined fort, which is believed to be built by King Vishal.

So, the first meaning of VAISHALINI is “GRAND OR GREAT LADY”.

BUT

There is another very popular explanation of this name among the common people:

2. Vaishali derives from “VESHYALYA” which means “COUNTRY (HOUSE) OF PROSTITUTES” = VESHYA (PROSTITUTE) + ALYA (COUNTRY or HOUSE.

In diachronic (historical) linguistics, semantic change is a change in one of the meanings of a word. Each word has various senses and connotations, which can be added, removed, or altered over time, often to the extent that cognates across space and time have very different meanings. Semantic change is one of three major processes to find a designation for a concept. The study of semantic change can be seen as part of etymology, onomasiology, semaciology and semantics.

So, VAISHALINI means “A LADY FROM A PROSTITUTE COUNTRY”.
