The Name Book

This book is awesome...I had the loan of a older version and needed a newer version with more up to date names and their meanings. I am making bookmarks for our local Christian Book Shop to sell, and this has been really helpful. I am thoroughly pleased with my purchase.

Great

My husband and I find this book very helpful. It is in alphabetical order so it makes looking up a name easy.It also includes everything mentioned like all of the meanings and where the names comes from. It is a great tool other than the internet. Even though we are still looking for a name I am sure we wont have a problem finding one in this book.

Perfect for Staff Meetings

I absolutely loved using this book to develop a special page of name recognition for all my employees for a staff meeting. It was very effective and they felt very engaged in the whole message of the meeting.

I do not want to add to it.

With us naming the newcomer has never been any problem. The seniormost in the household named it and that was the brand the child went by. If one does not like it he/sghe was free to call it by any other endearment but the official record name of the selected one. Long before the appearance of genes we believed in the continuity of the family. The first child was named after the grandfather, the second the great grandfather and the thired the greatgreat grandfather. The child was minutely examined to find out if it has any birthmarks resembling some known ancestor or either side. If identified the child was considered as reincarnation of the ancient worthy and named after him/her.The names represented the distinct regional influences.|||Interesting question. Yes, I am. No I don't have such a book. To be the author of a good and at the same time accurate book on the subject, a person would have to be versed in both genealogy and history.|||my name comes from Hebrew|||If you mean surnames. Ancesty.Com has a lot of meanings of surnames. The origin and meaning of surnames are not very important to genealogy. The same surname can come from more than one nationality and not every one with the same surname is necessarily related or share ancestors, even those of the same national origin.
